Hello everyone

Im new here . I have a 5 month old son. Who im thinking has reflux. He throws up often as in projectal vomitting. i took him to the dr and he doesnt seem to worried about it he says its normal ..grrr. i have him booked for a scan on tuesday. i have him on breast feeding and part time formula. I was using good start formula but just was asked to switch to simlac but still vomits alot. My question is if i cant geet him to take a bottle that often and when he does he vomits soon after..is he getting enough liquids so he wont dehydrate? I also have a 3 year old daughter so im busy busy but i want to make sure my son is getting enough liquid to keep him hydrated [baby]

Sorry Sharon i pushed reply then new topic..haha still getting used to this

I know how you feel. My twin sons both have reflux. The older of the two seems to have outgrown it now without medication, just by using a thicker formula. We used Enfamil AR which is made for reflux babies. My other son, the youngest twin, has reflux worse. He had a test done in October where he had to drink barium so that they could see the reflux. The doctor put him on zantac then and the Enfamil AR. I've been arguing with the doctor for about two weeks now because his weight hasn't changed in a month and although he's staying hydrated and eating, he's not eating as much as his brother which has me concerned since he was the bigger of the two at birth. My doctor seems to think that he (my youngest) will grow out of it and has even had me change formulas again to a soy formula thinking that it might be a lactose tolerance issue. So now I have to add rice cereal to the soy formula or I end up showered in it.

If you're concerned about hydration try adding four ounces of pedialyte a day, my son seems to keep most of it down and it helps keep him hydrated. Good luck!

This happened to my daughter at the very instant I brought her home. She needed a prespription ( sorry cannot spell it correctly) and it was not until 3 months of this and an Upper GI later the specialist told me she was allergic to the formula. Just a thought.

P.S. See a specialist if you can and remember even though doctors are who they are, never doubt a Mother's , your Motherly instint. ( Sorry for the mis-spelled words)

Hello

My son was admitted into the hospital a few days after i posted on here. The vomitting and diaherra dehydrated him so he needed iv for 4 days..We returned home after finding out he had reflux of the esphagus..bad spelling haha. anyways we were home 9 days then he developed a very high fever which tylenol wouldnt break..so i took him back to the emergency where he was put on iv again ( because it had given him a urinary tract infection)and they have found out he has urinary reflux ans is on medication until a further test in January to find out how bad it is. There is a one percent chance he will need surgery but the peditrian is hoping it was grow out of it threw nature. Happy New Years to all

Hi! I had the same problem with my son, and I went to a chiropracter, who tested something under his ear, which connects till the stomach, I forgot what it's called, and it made all the difference, he actually prevented my friend's son from having surgery due to bad reflux.

I recommend that you try some natural stuff.

Good Luck!
