Heather.

when we first started Shannon on the Prevacid we mixed it with either applesauce or Gerber's 3rd plums( which I cant find anymore). Now that she is older she will take solutab but we had to mix it with her food for the longest time.

The Maalox works terrific. We usually give it to her right before bed and it really seems to help.I would check with the dr to make sure you get the right dosage for Logan's weight. Shannon calls it her Cherry stomach medicine. I like the cherry or berry flavor the best. We tried the peppermint and that made her feel worse.

Let me know how it goes. I could never mix it with the beverage because she would see it in the juice and refuse it. Take care and God Bless.

For prevacid or prilosic to work the best it has to be given on an empty stomach or compounded and its really hard to compound it correctly. Plus overtime it will stop working.

MARCI KIDS TO READ ABOUT ZEGERID

We use zegerid which is 100 times better then them a PPI (which prilosic and prevacid are).
Zegerid is currently the only FDA-approved immediate-release formulation of omeprazole, and is very suitable for giving to children and infants. It contains omeprazole, a PPI that is approved by the FDA for pediatric use. When mixed with water, the powder dissolves to form a true, homogeneous liquid suspension with a peachy-mint flavor. Unlike enteric-coated PPIs, which must be taken 30 minutes before a meal, Zegerid can be given without regard to mealtime. When mixed up as a 2mg/mL or 3 mg/mL or 4 mg/mL concentration, Zegerid is stable for 28 days in the refrigerator; unrefrigerated it is stable for 7 days*.

Maalox is not recommended for children and baby's because unless its cherry flavor as it does not contain one ingredient that all the others does that's dangerous to children and infants (its late and I cannot remember off hand what that ingredient is) also maalox can cause upset stomach and diarrhea.

Heather has the endoscope been done? We just went through this two weeks ago, plus Johnny my oldest had it done in November.

Sorry to hear that you had to re-schedule. Please let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.

I just saw that Maalox has a chewable for infants and juniors. I have a call into the gi doc to see if there is a difference between that and the Maalox we use now. I just give Shannon the adult formula but a smaller dose.

    Take care and God Bless.
