best baby sling?
I still have the mei tai carrier that my mom made me for Leanna and I plan to use it. But I'm also considering buying or making a sling. We are not planning on getting a stroller so when we're out baby will either be in the car seat or strapped to me.
I have ready that it's possible to BF while in the mei tai, but I am thinking it may be easier in a sling, especially in the very beginning. Not that I plan on going out much when baby is brand new, but it may also be helpful around the house. Suggestions for a good, inexpensive sling or suggestions for making one myself? I have limited sewing abilities, but I could probably con my mom into helping me.

Re: best baby sling?
I would stick with the mei tai. The thing that I do not like about the sling is all the weight is on your shoulders.
I love our Ergo. We have used it from day one. We still use it with Maggie and she stays in it for long periods and she is a heavy girl, 34 pounds and 36 inches. The thing I like about the Ergo is the weight is distributed to your hips.

Re: best baby sling?
I'm just concerned about putting a newborn in the mei tai. I've been meaning to get it out and practice with one of Leanna's babies, but I haven't yet. LOL Maybe I'll wait and decide after baby gets here?
What Ergo do you have?

Re: best baby sling?
A lot of my friends use the moby wrap for newborns Moby Wrap, Inc. - Moby Wrap
You can easily nurse in it. My one friend who is a seamstress god. She can make anything with no problems whatsoever actually bought hers off of craigslist because it was cheaper then buying the fabric. She paid $25. Oh I typed out wrong above. We got our Ergo when Maggie was about 10 weeks old. Up until that time I tried everything else on the planet but with reflux issues and that with Maggie nothing was great for her. I did not try the Moby though. I would definitely give it a try next time if we had any more kids. I like how it holds the baby plus you can nurse with it. The Ergo is kind of expensive but it is the only piece of baby equipment we used. Like I said we still use it today. We went hiking a lot with it this past summer but like if I am going to the bookstore I put Maggie in it. If she is having a rough day and I need to cook dinner, I put Maggie in it. Sometimes she just request to ride in it.

Re: best baby sling?
The best sling I had was one I made... its a no sew sling. Very similar to the over the shoulder baby holder. I liked it because I could do it out of a lightweight fabric (double layered) rather than the heavy OTSBH that I had. Great for a newborn. You don't sew any of it, so you can easily undo it for a blanket to lay baby on, or a sunshade or whatever. I'll see if i can find the link. I think I posted it on here somewhere once. But like heidi says, when baby is older, its too heavy on the shoulders. Easy to nurse in too.

Re: best baby sling?
I just ordered a set of rings from slingrings.com and my mom agreed to help make my sling. I'm excited!
