I've been taking Mylanta today, but not finding too much relief from it. I did feel better for about 5 mins earlier today. LOL I also got the Tagamet HB and just took one a few minutes ago. So far nothing from it either. I can't live like this so if I need to see a dr about it, I guess I'll have to.

It is going to take a while to work Melissa. It will take at least 24 hours. Tagamet is only a H2 blocker. If it does not work you need a PPI. Prilosec is over the counter and a PPI.

The Mylanta says fast acting so I assumed it was one of those that works right away. I can't take Prilosec without talking to the dr. And it's a Cat C drug.

Melissa if you have not gotten to the root of the problem mylanta is not going to work. If it was a cure for heartburn indigestion there would be no H2 Blockers or PPIs.

If it does not work the H2 blocker talk to your dr about a PPI. None of my kids have a 3rd arm or eye in utero. I have taken a PPI since I was pregnant with Levi. All of my kids have been on a PPI too long term and none of developed a 3rd eye or extra arm while taking it.
The problem with acid reflux is if it is bad enough it will cause an ulcer or a hole in your lining in your throat. It also causes Asthma and other lung problems. You sure in the heck better off treating the acid reflux then ending up on life support do to lack of oxygen.

The heartburn is caused by pregnancy, I know the root of it. And I'm just saying that I'd like to try the stuff that the dr recommends as safe before I go asking for something stronger. I am under a dr's care so that I can take their advice and I'm trying to do that.

I know you it is caused from the baby but the acid has to be neutralized first and if you have to give it time was my orginal point. It takes 24 hours for an H2 blocker to start working. You had said, . I was saying to you be more patient. I know it sucks especially being pregnant on top of it but it is not going to work in 5 minutes and if it does not work call your dr. and do not be too afraid of what is out there.
