My Dad

A while back my dad had a nervous breakdown. All of his life he was the strong, manly man type, very very well groomed etc. The signs of a breakdown were there so we dealt as we went, of course we were shocked to watch and deal with this! At first I cried with him (the first time I ever saw my dad cry) and offered support. Then it got to a point where we had to force help because he so obviously needed it and refused. Anyways.... after hospitals, meds after meds, drs etc here we are. We've had ups and downs. The last few days have been dooooowns. Today we decided he needs farther hospitalization because since this started, about 2 years ago, we aren't moving forward. We rolled with the punches, dealt with endless med changes blah blah blah and it's just not working. This morning mom went admit him to the nearest hospital with a mental department. They are full so they are evaluating him and finding a hospital with vacancy. PRAY it isn't too far away. PRAY this helps. I just don't know what else to say or do.....

Please pray for him. Thank you all so much for listening and praying.

Re: My Dad

** I wanted to add... the very well groomed comment is because since this started we have to force him to bath, wash his hair, brush his teeth, and use basic good hygiene. He goes weeks, WEEKS, without bathing. I go visit and talk to him, begging him to bath.... it really is sad. Friends of the family are shocked that the man they have known, who never had a hair on his head messed up, is going through this.

He is so stubborn too. He fights us.

Re: My Dad

HUGS that is so hard to go through.

My dad had something similiar happen. But my dad's was caused by an adverse reaction to a new medication. It was a horrible week. We could not get the stupid dr. to listen to us. He thought my dad was moving on with his life and us kids were having a hard time accepting this. On the contrary NO! We knew our father and as soon as he missed a dose he came to his senses and was horrified about what happen.

Re: My Dad

Awww Heidi and Jacquie

Jacquie did they put her on meds? When my grandpa was close to the end they finally evaulated him and put him on meds, he was SUCH a better person!

We still haven't heard where they are bringing him yet.

Thanks so much for the hugs and prayers, I thought about not posting this because it is a touchy subject. A lot of people think "oh suck it up and move on man", if they only knew.... we wish it were that easy. And it does get you down so that you think that way to for a bit. I'm beyond it. It's horrible to see the man that raised me, cared for me, done and will do anything for me go through this. He tells me to not worry about him and focus on my children. I tell him he was there for me all of my life without turning his back now I am returning the favor.

Re: My Dad

Still no word...

I HATE the fact that he has been gone all day and no word yet. Is he sitting waiting? Are they taking care of him? Is he being transported as we speak?

UGH!
