Obama names brother of undecided Dem to Appeals Court
Tonight, Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he's obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson's brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Obama Now Selling Judgeships for Health Care Votes? | The Weekly Standard The President has said that it is "absurd" to question the timing or infer there is a link between the health care vote and nominating the brother of an undecided House member to be a judge. Right, I am sure it is just a coincidence. Between this and the billion dollar kickbacks for the Senate votes, they are driving cynicism to new heights instead of restoring our faith in government. Re: Obama names brother of undecided Dem to Appeals Court
Well of course there is no PROOF of a quid pro quo, nobody is that stupid. And of course it is possible that it is just a coincidence, but it does at the least look bad, even the people at your link acknowledged that.
Remember when Obama said: "This past Election Day, the American people sent a clear message to Washington: Clean up your act.... It's not enough to just change the players. We have to change the game. Americans put their faith in Democrats because they want us to restore their faith in government.... The truth is, we cannot change the way Washington works unless we first change the way Congress works. On Nov. 7, voters gave Democrats the chance to do this. But if we miss this opportunity to clean up our act and restore this country's faith in government, the American people might not give us another one." What a load of bull that turned out to be. Maybe I could give him the benefit of the doubt if hadn't already had these billion dollar kickbacks on health care already, but I am at the point of losing complete trust for the President's integrity.
