I wonder if he has to pay taxes on the money. I know he is donating it but it still has to filter through his account. See I wonder about those things.

Nikki, all the news reports that I have heard have stated that Obama was President less then 2 weeks when he got nominated. Apparently who ever did the nominating had to scramble in order to get his name in before the "Official" deadline.

Smile Re: Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

So all the stuff that Obama did in order to become President is what, chopped liver? Is it just not that big a deal that an African-American became president-elect almost a year ago now? That he had to overcome Hilary Clinton plus what the Republicans tossed his way, and didn't really get ugly in the campaign.

I wonder how well do some have a selective memory over the last year or just want to disregard some things. Have we already forgotten how ugly some things in the world were a year ago after the financial crisis in the US?

I'm just asking a few questions as someone that does see that Obama has achieved something.

Re: Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

JB, I don't think anyone disputes the Obama is wonderful at campaigning and giving speeches, but that historically has not been the basis for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Crime, violence, unrest, disorder -- most particularly the furious, unrestrained lashing out at the whole social structure -- that is not only to be expected; it is very near to inevitable. And it is richly deserved. ~ Daniel Patrick Moynihan (Democrat, NY)

I haven't seen him accomplish anything. And to get in the White House, he used one job to campaign for another without fully serving in any of them. And I don't recall his campaign being any less ugly than anyone else's, unfortunately.

And this proves my earlier point...

For some it won't matter what Obama does - like I said...the man could achive peace in the Middle East tomorrow and I don't doubt that Angie will still be saying...

"I haven't seen him accomplish anything..."

Hell if I know - I'd expect he'd have to claim it as "income"...

But then shouldn't he get a tax deduction for the donation?

Happy to prove your point for you... I'm not really as shallow as all that, but if it helps prove your point, that's all that matters.
