I need help
So we're going on 3 solid days of Emma just not being herself. She isn't interested in eating (not that that in itself is unusual, but she doesnt even want her favorite snacks or 'junk' -- things she would ask for even if she wasn't hungry). She is also really sensitive. Crying at just about anything. It is like a light switch goes off and she gets really sad. Her lip will quiver and she'll tear up. We were at the children's museum having fun tonight and all of a sudden BAM! She went back to the stroller sat down and started crying.
I thought maybe she was just exhausted... she's been playing outside every day almost all day, but it seems like that would be a one day thing, not ongoing. She's napping, going to bed early enough. I don't THINK she's sick, but I guess that's a possibility. She isn't complaining of ear pain or anything like that. No fever. Any ideas?? |

Re: I need help
Not sure, but she could just need more sleep and might be in a growth spurt... or could be just fighting something.
Hope she is more like herself soon!

Re: I need help
Another thing I thought of is the mosquito bites..she is covered in them from camping. But despite putting anti itch stuff on her, she's pretty much scratched them all open, so I dont think the itching would be bothering her anymore..... I dont know.
I hope she's better soon. It worries me a little. |

Re: I need help
Sometimes mom just has a sixth sense that something is wrong and you need to call the doctor, even if nothing is wrong on the surface? Can you call and talk to a nurse, see what they think?
Sometimes when my kids do something like this it's a wait it out thing... unless it lasts too long and then I call. However, usually they snap out of it. For our kids, it's usually been growth spurts or getting sick, and something shows up that makes it an "oh, yeah" moment. Like a child throwing up suddenly after me getting upset at them for whining all morning. Sigh. Not pleasant, and very mommy guilt provoking. Keep us posted.

Re: I need help
I don't know, maybe? They don't seem bad anymore, although they are still there. Most of them she has scratched the heck out of them. I know they are bothering her. Last night she asked me to help her wash them all off. This was in the middle of the night... so I brought her downstairs and used a cold wash cloth and just made sure to clean them all but I bet the cool felt good too.
Her personality seems a little better today. She had a peice of pizza for lunch. So maybe I'll just wait it out a bit longer. |

Re: I need help
Jacki,
I am allergic to mosquito bites. They make me feel sick. I have to get medication for them.

Re: I need help
she's doing great now... about a week after this post she had a terrible UTI. Based on the bloodwork and that her temp was so high and she got so sick, the doctor thought she probably had it for a while. So something was wrong! It just took a while to figure it out.
